The United States Embassy in Monrovia, , is saddened by the death of U.S. Naval Petty Officer Joshua Dae-Ho Carrell.  Carrell, 23, died on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in due to “complications associated with malaria.”  As a routine for all cases involving deaths of U.S. Service Members, Seabee Carrell’s death is under investigation.

Dr. Richard Tolbert, Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC) has out rightly denied media report that he was petitioned by a youth group based in Monrovia. “I have never been petitioned,” he clarifies.

The Managing Director of the Monrovia Transit Authority, Mr. Senwan T. Wiah has called the national legislature to increase the budget of the MTA to during the next year to enable it cope with the transport need of the public. He said the increase in the budget is necessary to build the capacity of the entity for smooth operation during the coming year.

Speaking further the MTA boss said that in the budget his entity needs the amount of 2.1 million dollar for total transformation of the entity without  hindrances and  as such will enable it purchase additional buses, spare parts and to assist in training more technicians to deal with the mechanical problems faced by the entity.
