 Internationally acclaimed Liberian activist, Kimmie Weeks, says the recent beating of student leaders by the Liberia National Police is unacceptable and should be swiftly investigated. Mr. Weeks said that the Liberian government has made extraordinary steps to ensure law and order but that beatings of citizens by law enforcement officers placed a stain on Liberia's human rights record. |

In a wake to provide security for residents of Killepo Kanweaken, a little mining community, the Paramount Chief of the Chiefdom Seyon Sackor is appealing to central government to increase the number of Police officers assigned in that part of the country, from 3 to at least 10 to help strengthen security operations in that part of the county.

The United States Ambassador to Liberia, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, will on Wednesday, January 27, sign grant agreements to provide assistance to several community groups from across Liberia. The grants will be provided under the “Ambassador's Self Help Fund” to implement various community development initiatives in the areas of health/sanitation, education (construction & renovation of school buildings) and income generation projects. |

When the United Nations declaration on human rights gave rise to women's rights and gender equity in the world, little did countries around the world especially Africa knows that this declaration was the beginning of the dawn of a new day for Liberian women. Howbeit, Liberian women have over the years been kept in the back seat especially as it relates to their participation in national politics and economic development.
