The Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG), Ms. Ellen Margrethe Løj and Liberia's Minister of Justice, Counsellor-at-Law Christiana Tah recently paid tribute to UN peacekeepers in Liberia who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of peace in Liberia. The solemn ceremony was held at the Pan African Plaza Headquarters of the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and brought together senior officials of the Liberian Government, the United Nations family, members of the Diplomatic Corps, non-governmental organizations and other partners.

Though the town, and by extension the region, was unlocked to the rest of the country in December 2009, the people of Belle Yellah, like many remotest parts of the country, are still far from benefitting from basic social services.
School buildings, clinics, latrines, safe drinking water, a court house of police depot all remain day dream to more than 4,000 people in dire need of them. Farming is the leading means of employment and survival.
