The University of Liberia Staff Association (ULSA) over the weekend inducted into office its corps of officers that were elected recently. They are expected to steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years.

As part of its humanitarian services to Liberia, the Bong County Chapter of the Liberian National Red Cross Society (LNRCS), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has embarked on “Life-Saving” measures in the County with a series of workshops for community journalists, motorcyclists and police, as well as community volunteers and animators in First Aid.

Planning and Economic Affairs Minister Amara Konneh has described the October 11 general and presidential elections as a critical moment for the people of Liberia. Minister Konneh said the October 11 elections is a turning point in the history of the lives of Liberians as they are required to participate in an excellent way by electing a leader who has demonstrated the will power to act in the interest of the masses.

Liberia's Vice Joseph N. Boakai has commended the United States Peace Corps Volunteers for helping Liberians meet their need for trained manpower. “I can think of no other organization in the world with grassroots orientation that has achieved all of its goals in record time as the Peace Corps” which he noted, also include “bringing the world back home” and “promoting a better understanding of Americans abroad”. |

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry says it is aware of some damaged rice at SWAT's warehouse.According to a press release, the letter from SWAT's management dated September 22, 2011, asked the Ministry to send a team of technicians to work along with theirmanagement to address the issue.

The German Government, through its Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), has provided 5 million Euros to enhance the rehabilitation process of the Transport Sector in Liberia. The money which is being secured under its "Capacity Development for the Transport Sector Project in Liberia", will be implemented by the GIZ formerly the GTZ. |
