Bangladeshi Contingents serving under UNMIL Monday celebrated the 36th Independence Day of Bangladesh. In a message, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf lauded the Bangladeshi peacekeepers, observers, civilians, and expressed her gratitude for their commitment to the development and sustenance of peace and stability in Liberia. She hoped that Liberia and Bangladesh will continue to share and enjoy strong bilateral ties that have existed between the two countries over the years. As part of the observance of the day, Bangladeshi Contingents arranged various programs across Liberia. In Gbarnga, Sector Commander, Brig. Gen. MD Monawar Hossain received leadership of the House of Representatives, Superintendent of the Bong County, and local elites at a reception held at the Sector Headquarters. While congratulating the peacekeepers, the Liberian dignitaries recalled their contribution in consolidating peace in Liberia and hoped that the friendly relations between Liberia and Bangladesh will continue to flourish
