GATEWAY INT’L TO IMPORT RICE SOON
Published on May 30, 2007Email To Friend    Print Version

In a bid to ease the problem faced by Liberians regarding the nation’s staple food rice, the Managing Director at the Gateway International Liberia, Mr. Moses D. B. Tiawlorh has promised his company commitment for the importation of quality rice on the Liberian market without hindrance.
Speaking to our reporter over the weekend following a brief visitation of Gateway International foreign supplier from abroad, Mr. Tiawlorh further noted that in order for Liberian owned business to sustain adequate operation in the country, there is a need for the Central Bank of Liberia to empower local commercial banks to provide credit line to various organized entrepreneurs.
Mr. Tiawlorh suggested that it would be necessary that there is a need for the Liberian Government through the National Legislature to enact legislations that for any commercial bank to operate in Liberia it should declare and declare not less than up to 3million USD dollars as now a days no Liberian local bank can raise a loan up to 3 million US dollars that can move the Liberian businesses to actual performance. He then urged Liberians to graduate from doing subsistent businesses and form a cooperative, something that will help to improve the economic climate in Liberia, and that can create assurance in bank to borrow out money for their business
