“Prioritize GBV Reporting” -IRC/GBV Coordinator

The National Coordinator of IRC/GBV, Madam Getrude Garway wants Journalists to prioritize and increase its reporting on Gender Based Violence.
Speaking at the close of a two-day media personnel training held at the headquarters of the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) in Congo Town on Tubman Boulevard, Madam Garway, said among other things that the workshop was intended to merge IRC/GBV and the press and therefore wishing that there exist a good working relations between her organization and the press. She said the workshop was the beginning of the relationship between IRC/GBV.
Madam Garway then lauded the participants for their effort in making the workshop worthwhile.
The Gender Based Violence program was conducted at a two-day training on GBV concept with emphasis on male involvement and gender sensitive investigation and reporting on violence against Women and Girls.
Thirty media personnel from three counties including Lofa, Nimba and Montserrado Counties participated in the workshop.
The workshop was indented to increase participants’ knowledge on basic concept on GBV and engaging males in GBV prevention.
