| NEC, IFES Hold Major Press Confab Today - As By-Election Heats Up |

The National Elections Commission (NEC) and the International Foundation for Electoral systems (IFES) will hold a news conference highlighting a number of elections related issue in the build up to the up coming general and presidential elections 2011 in the country. According to a release issued Monday in Monrovia , the conference will also dwell on United States of America new support to the National Elections Commission . IFES President William Bill Sweeney Jr., who is visiting the country for the first time and NEC Chairman James Framoyan are expected to address the conference. The conference will also be attended by IFES Regional Director for West Africa Almami Cyllah, USAID Liberia’s Acting Mission Director, Carolyn “Teddy” Bryan and Democracy and Governance Lead Officer Sean Hall. The National Elections Commissions (NEC) is currently conducting the process leading to the November 10 by-election of Montserrado County replacing a vacant seat created as a result of the demise of Montserrado County junior senator Hannah Brent at the JF Kenedy Hospital in Sinkor. 10 candidates are contesting the Montserrado County by-election.
