| Man 25 Indicted For Raping 7 Years Girl |

A 25 year-old Timothy Sumo has been indicted for allegedly raping a 7-year old girl in the Peace Island Community in Congo Town.
Defendant Sumo was arrested by the police upon a complaint filed by Evans Gorgboyee a parent of the victim.
Mr. Gorgboyee explained to the police that on the night of February 20, the victim was sleeping with her aunt when the alleged perpetrator who according to Mr. Gorgboyee was not far from the scene carried the victim at the living room and inserted his finger into her virginal while everybody was asleep.
Mr. Gorgboyee furthered told the police that immediately after the incident, defendant Sumo threatened the victim of severe action if she tells anyone.
During police investigation, Defendant Sumo denied ever having such affair with the victim.
He explained to the police that on February 21, 2010 a lady by the name of Ma Palay told him that the victim inform her that she was fingered by(him)defendant Sumo. Defendant Sumo furthered that he was later arrested to his surprise by the police for what he claimed to be innocent of.
Meanwhile the police has charged and sent to court defendant Timothy Sumo with the crime of Statutory Rape, a crime which is in violation of section 14.71 of the new Penal Code of Law.
