Published on April 28, 2010Email To Friend    Print Version

By: Robert K. Bolay, Jr. in Lofa

As part of efforts to enhance service delivery and capacity building in support of national development, the United Nations County Support Team (UNCST) in partnership with the Planning and Internal Affairs Ministries has concluded a four-day trainer of trainers in Voinjama City, Lofa County, under the team “capacity development to enhanced service delivery in support of national development process”.

The training exercise, pilot phase, brought together 50 participants, mostly local leaders from Lofa, Bomi, Gbapolu and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

The program manager of the UNCST Mr. Abibu Tamu told journalists the focus point of the training was to strengthen the sub-national capacity for service delivery in support of national government process.

The training, he said, focused on leadership competency for good governance to boost service delivery and coordination and planning skills, which he maintained will support national development efforts.

Mr. Tamu said local opportunities are available in the Liberian society adding that “The challenge is ours to transform those opportunities into actions that will benefit the country.”
