Rep. Koomey Cautions District #8 Citizens
Published on May 26, 2010Email To Friend    Print Version

The Chairman of Montserrado County Legislative Caucus, District eight Representative Dave Koomey is calling on citizens of the district to take advantage of community self-help projects for the development of their communities.
He said in times like these when the nation is striving for reconstruction following the 15-year of civil crisis, it is prudent that communities embark on cooperative initiatives to improve their surroundings.

Representative Koomey made the assertion recently when he toured road construction site including bridges and schools in the district. During the tour the District # (8) Lawmaker paid a surprise visit on Swaggart Island Community near Double Bridge, Stephen Tolbert Estate where the community is carrying on construction of the bridge connecting Swaggart Island. The Lawmaker donated rice and some cash to the community workers.

The bridge when constructed will help citizens in the community to move freely and would enable community dwellers to carry their goods from one place to another.

For his part, the Acting Chairman and Chairman of the Project Management Committee of Swaggart Community, Mr. John Attah thanked Representative Koomey for the gesture in providing food and cash for community volunteer workers.

He told journalist that the project valued a little over USD$11,600.00 was initiated by the community and through the kind courtesy of Representative Koomey and the Public Work Minister Kofi Woods the project has been ongoing. He said community is making little contribution to feed the workers and it is expected to complete the project before the dry season.
