The head of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), Ellen Margrethe Løj has re-assured Liberians that UNMIL will continue to work with the Government of Liberia to ensure the consolidation of peace and security in the country, even though its numerical strength is being scaled down.

The Vice President of Liberia Joseph N. Boakai says Liberia is still far from reaching the stage of self-sufficiency and would welcome any assistance from well-meaning individuals and organizations.

The Country Director of the United Nations Development Programme Mr. Dominic Sam says the international community will continue to support efforts by the Liberian government to create a functioning and effective judiciary system that will provide access to justice for all Liberians.

Ms. Loj was inaugurating the Women’s Resource Centre in Grand Kru County, which she handed over to the SEWODA, a Liberian NGO of over 4500 women with 100 networks all over the region.
